As our quote tool generates a high percentage of website traffic, it needs to be working across all device sizes. It was intended to be a quick tool, and yet on mobile (i.e. 'on the go') it wasn't intuitive or fast. It also didn't have the right CTA's at the fore. As a member of the Digital team, I researched competitor experiences, noting what made them both effective and ineffective, and from here, I lead a high value redesign of the mobile breakpoint, which was eventually briefed to an external agency
NobleOak's online quote tool drives a significant amount of website traffic, and ultimately is a driving force behind lead generation. The existing quote tool was not performing well from a UI or UX perspective on mobile, and a significant amount of traffic was coming through it. This was an incredible drain on the marketing model, given that the target audience is high-income professionals, like Accountants or Company Directors, who often only have time to view the tool on the go - i.e. on their phone. It was intended to be a quick tool, and yet on mobile it wasn't intuitive responsive, or fast. It also didn't have the right CTA's at the fore.
As a member of the internal Digital team, I researched competitor experiences, noting what made them both effective and ineffective. From here, I lead a high value redesign of the mobile breakpoint, which was eventually briefed to an external agency. I executed the design in Sketch. The experience was well-received across internal stakeholders, and continued to drive a significant portion of our leads.
Changes included a sticky bar at the bottom with space for NobleOak's numerous awards for their products, better responsiveness on mobile, and a stronger focus on touch screen usage. Another improvement was the modal boxes, which now more easily allow customers to adjust their quick quote on the fly.
For this reason I consider it a business success, but also a personal success as the agency was able to design from my UI mockup with minimal revisions. As a result, I gained great insight into this procedure of briefing developers, using Sketch, and ultimately using Figma, which is the tool I currently prefer and have transitioned the business into using today.
I'm always open to working on innovative products and experiences.
